A new issue in the Fauna series by Posta Slovenije shows four characteristic denizens of the Slovenian sea: Damselfish (Chromis chromis), Loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta), Common cuttlefish (Sepia officinalis) and Golden grey mullet (Liza aurata) stamp in miniature sheet.

The stamps were printed using a very special thermography technique, and Posta Slovenije is proud to be the first national postal service to issue stamps on which part of the design is covered with real salt from the Piranske Soline saltworks.

Portulaca Grandiflora
The Portulaca Grandiflora (or commonly known as moss-rose), a small-sized herbaceous creeper, is a common sight in Singapore. It can be found in roadside plantings, rooftop gardens, on flowerbeds and as ornamental displays in pots. It is easy to grow, thrives in full sun and requires little water. Its flowers are 2.5 – 5.5 cm wide and come in different colours such as pink, red, purple, yellow, bronze or white. Some varieties may have speckled patterned petals or numerous sets of petals which make it resemble a small rose.
These attractive and showy flowers bloom throughout the year and are known to attract butterflies. The fleshy leaves are linear in shape. The fruits are capsules that split open and contain numerous small black seeds. This rather hassle-free plant can be easily propagated by seeds or stem cuttings.

How to Plant the Portulaca Grandiflora
To grow your very own flowering stamp, follow these simple steps:
1) Dip the stamp for 24 hours in a glass of water
2) At the bottom of a pot of soil, put a layer of gravel or clay granules
3) Fill the pot with soil to the ideal level for planting
4) Sow the stamp facing upwards
5) Cover with a thin layer of soil and press gently down
6) Immerse the pot in water for 10 minutes to moisten the soil (by letting the soil absorb some water)

7) See your stamp grow

The world’s first pop-up stamps from Netherlands

On 8 October 2012, PostNL issued the world’s first pop-up stamps. The stamp sheet with the three-dimensional stamps on the occasion of the Children’s Book Week is a world first. The special paper architecture changes the 2D character of these two stamps into 3D after pulling out the cardboard slider.
The stamps themselves as well as the front and back of the sheetlet show illustrations of plants, animals and elements that feature in the Children’s Book Week Picture Book Hallo! These illustrations were made by Fleur van der Weel. On the part of the stamp that folds out, a bird and a butterfly are pictured taking flight, as it were. The trunk of an elephant and the neck of a giraffe are displayed in the horizontal area underneath.

Augarten Porcelain, “Viennese Rose”, the world’s first stamp made of porcelain

Sophisticated design and timeless beauty: that’s what world-famous Augarten Porcelain is all about, with a tradition going back almost 300 years. Augarten Porcelain is now available in the form of the first stamp ever made of porcelain. This innovative stamp in the Austrian “Classic Brands” series features the “Viennese Rose”.

A Brief History of Timelessness
In 1718, Claudius Innocentius du Paquier completed a risky mission to bring the closely guarded secret of how to make porcelain to Vienna. In recognition of his achievements, Emperor Karl VI granted him the special privilege of being Vienna’s sole porcelain producer. This is how Europe’s second porcelain manufactory (the first one was in Meissen) came to be founded in Vienna in the street which is today known as “Porzellangasse”.

The first white stamp paper was fired for 24 hours at 960 degrees, then glazed and cured at higher temperatures. After that the brand design "Viennese Rose", the country name and the denomination were attached and then in a further operation to ensure the color fastness baked at 820 degrees.

A replica of Alderney’s Final Panel is depicted on the Miniature Sheet. This has been printed onto cotton, which we believe has never been done by any other postal administration in Europe.

Swiss Post has issued a special Record Stamp which measures 168 x 137 millimeters and has a special coating on which a piece of music has been imprinted on the “record” part of the souvenir sheet made of Card Paper. There is hole in the center of the round stamp.
When the circular, ready-for-postage stamp, is plays a brass band version of the Swiss national anthem at 33 rpm with a single puck.

In 2010, Brazil issued a fabric stamp with embroidery commemorating 100 years of the Corinthian soccer club. This stamp, printed on synthetic fabric, was issued on 1st September 2010. The Brazil Post used plain fabric, embroidered with application of fluorescent luminescent invisible ink, luminescent under UV light.

Bộ tem được phát hành ngày 4-8-2010, gồm 4 mẫu và 2 blốc có răng và không răng bằng chất liệu lụa tơ tằm Thái. Đây là bộ tem bằng vải lụa tơ tằm đầu tiên của bưu chính Thái.

Tơ lụa của Thái đã giành được trái tim của rất nhiều người trên toàn thế giới trong một thời gian dài và nó đã trở thành một trong những biểu tượng của đất nước.

Để vinh danh Nữ hoàng Sirikit và để khuyến khích và quảng bá các sản phẩm tơ lụa Thái, bưu chính Thái đã thỉnh cầu sự cho phép của Nữ hoàng để được sử dụng thương hiệu con công của Hoàng gia, trong đó xác nhận chất lượng cao của lụa Thái và sử dụng thủ công dệt lụa trên tem.

Thương hiệu của con công Hoàng gia được in dập nổi trong bốn màu - vàng, bạc, xanh dương đậm và màu xanh lá cây.
Để tăng giá trị cho các bộ sưu tập tem, những tờ tem bưu chính đã được làm thành hai loại:

- Loại đầu tiên là con công được thêu bằng chỉ tơ tằm nâu trên miếng lụa màu vàng rồi dán lên chỗ có chất liệu bằng kim loại trên tờ tem (block).
- Loại thứ hai con công được in dập nổi trên một miếng lụa màu trắng rồi dán lên tờ tem. Con công được in dập nổi trong bốn màu: vàng, bạc, xanh dương đậm và màu xanh lá cây.



The Charm of Thai Silk... Decorating the Postage Stamps
Thai silk has won the hearts of people worldwide for a long time and it has become one of the symbols of the country. In order to honor Her Majesty Queen Sirikit and to promote and publicize Thai silk and silk products, Thailand Post has requested permission from Her Majesty the Queen to present then Royal Peacock brand, which certifies the high quality of Thai silk on postage stamps and to use hand-woven silk as part of the stamps. The Royal Peacock brand will be presented in embossed foil in four colors-gold, silver, dark blue and green.

In order to add more value to the stamp collection, postage stamp sheets have been made into two types.

The first type features a peacock embroidered with brown silk thread on the golden silk material; the second type presents a peacock embossed on golden foil on a white silk material.

This is the first time that this innovation has been used in an issue of postage stamps.
