A lighthouse is a tower (building or frame) designed to emit light from a system of lamps and lenses (in the past it was illuminated by fire) with aiming at support to navigation for maritime pilots. Lighthouses are used to mark coastlines, hazardous shoals, reefs, safe entries to harbors and can also assist in aerial navigation.
On 15th of May 2013, the SRV Ministry of Information and Communications issues the stampset "Vietnamese lighthouses" with 4 values of 2,000 đ, 3,000 đ, 6,000 đ & 14.5000 đ showing 4 lighthouses: Diêm Điền (Thái Bình province), Lý Sơn (Quảng Ngãi province), Đại Lãnh (Phú Yên province) và Kê Gà (Bình Thuận province).
