(10-07-1910 – 24-12-1996)
(VN Code: 993)

Lawyer Nguyễn Hữu Thọ, a talented intellectual with good heart, was a fervent patriot, a banner of great national unity, and a steadfast communist, who in any difficult situations and challengers was still loyal to his country and people.
Having given up his glory and interests acquired under the colonialist and imperialist regime, he faced many dangers, despite being imprisoned in enemy jails, and with his skill and spirit - “never be subdued by others’ brutal power”- Lawyer Nguyễn Hữu Thọ dedicated his life to the revolutionary path under the leadership of President Hồ Chí Minh. His life was a brilliant example of lofty personality, tireless struggle and dedication to national independence, peace and socialism. Although he never met Uncle Hồ, he deserved to be one of his prominent disciples.
Lawyer Nguyễn Hữu Thọ (alias Ba Nghĩa) was born on July 10th, 1910 in Bến Lức District, Long An Province; passed away on December 24th, 1996 in Hồ Chí Minh city.
In childhood, he studied at Long Mỹ Primary School, Rạch Giá. At 11 years old, he went to France to study. In 1932, he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Law at Aix en Provence University of Law and Literature.
He participated in the revolutionary movement in 1947. He was admitted into the Indochinese Communist Party on October 16th, 1949.
Over half a century of his attachment to the nation and revolution, Lawyer Nguyễn Hữu Thọ had been in various positions and activities in different fields. He had been assigned various important positions by our Party and State:
He was awarded the International Lenin Prize and the Friendship Order for Consolidation of peace between the nations by the USSR’s State, the Dimitrov Prize by the Bulgarian State, the Joliot Curie Order by the World Peace Council, the Jose Marti Order by the Cuban State, the Sukhe Bator Order by the Mongolian State…
