The Eight Immortals (Pa Sien), established as early as in the era of the Yuan dynasty (1279 - 1368), have been so frequent in the Chinese literary and art tradition that they have become a part of the Chinese folklore. They are Han Zhongli (Zhong Liquan), Zhang Guolao, Han Xiangzi, Tie Guaili, Cao Guojiu, Lu Dongbin, Lan Caihe and He Xiangu.
